Ashy Bines: body transformation specialist or scam artist?

Ashy Bines is a rising star in Australia’s diet and fitness world. However, with fame comes publicity, and it’s not always positive.
For $69 plus GST you can purchase a 29 page E-book containing guidelines and tips which you probably already knew, for achieving the body you always wanted. This also allows you to join a member’s only forum, in which you can chat with other women all wanting the same thing: a body like Ashy’s.
Many however have complained that the forum doesn’t provide the support they’ve paid for, with Ashy often telling people to Google things they want to know.
“This plan or ‘guidelines’ may be misleading due to the lack of service Ashy is offering and the ridiculous price she is charging for her so called plan.” said a product reviewer.
With over 280,000 likes on Facebook, one would assume Ashy’s plan is some sort of diet and fitness miracle. Yet, with another quick search, you’ll find another Facebook group claiming Ashy’s diet plan is a waste of money. This group has over 11,000 likes.
The problem the administrators of this Facebook group have with Ashy’s diet plan is that it is breaching Australian Consumer Law legislation.
Anne, an administrator of the ‘Ashy Bines Bikini Body Challenge = Waste of $’ Facebook page, says that Ashy and her product are misleading and deceptive.
“1. You cannot guarantee weight-loss [and] 2. You cannot offer 24/7 supervised forums and not provide them.” she says.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission have yet to take action despite complaints from those in this group.
Ashy Bines does however have many loyal followers who swear by her plan. Tara Morgan is one of them. Of her results, she says that they were “Better than imagined, I dropped 7% body fat and put on 5kgs of muscle…”
Here’s what Griffith student Lisle had to say about her experience with the Ashy Bines diet plan:

  1. Thank you for you excellent article, to give you an update, ACCC have contacted the directors of ABBBC and they have been given compliance deadlines to make specific changes. I have had to update the blogs because whilst I have seen some minimal changes, there are still some significant conduct which tends to be exploitative and as such does not deliver the promises as guaranteed. Its also a shame that we have discovered three transformations which were demonstrated to have been taken from other sites around the world. 2. Its a shame as it the Ashy Bines Fan Page target young vulnerable women desperate to lose weight. I agree with Claire and Anne, people use caution, do your research and do not be seduced by a diet secret. Clean Eating has been around a long time and its free all over the internet. You do not need guidelines which tell you not to eat lettuce because its too high in sugar. That is ridiculous. Err on the side of caution and research it first. I know I cannot afford to waste $75.60 with GST I had to fight hard with paypal for a refund but a lot of ppl do not get a refund and no replies to your concerns. Bam you are deleted or removed and your money is gone. So you have no avenue to address your concerns. Its a shame because she is damaging her own brand.
